Trash Trash Everywhere

It seems to me,
That all I see

Is trash on every street corner.

Do you think it is fair for me to say that people are piggish? We throw trash on the ground without ever thinking where is goes.

Well folks, it goes right where you put it. On the ground or in the ocean or into the gutter... But it doesn't get picked up, unless where you live you have street sweepers, and even then all that does is blow it around. It may pick up the bigger pieces, but the smaller ones just get distributed around. Say, into a tree with a plastic bag, or around a light post with some moving twine. I've even seen mattresses, chairs, clothing and the like strewn across the interstate.

It's disgusting. WE should be ashamed of ourselves. WE should know better. How do you think you would like it if someone drove down your street and decided to dump their trash into your yard? You wouldn't. So why do we make the earth feel unloved by dumping our garbage where ever we want to? Have you been to your local dump lately? Have you seen the amount of waste we accrue daily? Weekly? Monthly? How close can you get to the landfill before the stench turns the acid in your stomach? I know I can't get very close to mine... I HAVE been to the one closest to me very recently and it made me sad (not to mention it turned my stomach).

When I visit California, my home state, and I travel up Pacific Coast Highway, I marvel at how such a large state can keep their roads decently clean. I drive around here, in the BIBLE BELT of the nation, and I can't believe that these people make this place so nasty. I used to work for the Division of Forestry and it sickened me that people would just dump their trash somewhere in the middle of the forest. LITERALLY! We would be driving down a unmarked, dirt or clay road, and we would come up on beds, refrigerators, large TV antennas, bicycles, clothing and other household items that THE LOCALS were just too busy (or lazy, IMHO) to take to the landfill.

Is it so hard for everyone to recycle when they can? It's not really that time consuming. Most places have a recycle center close to their home where they can drop it all off and then the trash company will come and get it.

Stand up and do your part. Maybe what you do will brush off onto your neighbors. Maybe you will start to feel like you are accomplishing something GOOD for the world.

Maybe.

Is there such a thing as OVERPOPULATION?

It has come to our attention several times over that the world is slowly becoming over populated. What do you think is going to happen? Do you think that maybe one day the world will just give and and say, "Fuck you!" to the human race? I think it might. But then that is merely my humble opinion.

How many people do you know right now that are pregnant? You don't have to know them personally, just know them by sight or daily interaction... One, two, maybe three? Upwards of 10? In my business, I see upwards of four hundred people a day. Of those, twenty are pregnant. Of those twenty, half have three or more children. Tell me I am not just making a big to do over nothing, but prove it. Prove to me that this world is not going to hell in a handbasket.

I see these people and I wonder why they have so many children. How do they keep up with them all? How do you discipline five or six kids who are all under eight years old? Don't believe me? Come work with me one day, just one. You will see that I do not exaggerate what I see.

I Am a Survivor! (Not really)

Yeah so, I may survive and I may not.
BTW, it's 56% survival rate, if you can't see it. At least I have more than half a chance, right?

Been there, Done that - Twice.

Like, if you look REALLY close, you might just be able to make out who I went to see last night.
And if you can't, I suppose I will just tell you.
I went to see Poison last night and Ratt opened for them.
It was like a blast from my past, man. Junior high and High school came flooding back with a viciousness that made me want to crawl under the covers.
You see, I remember when these bands came out. Motley Crue, Warrant, Poison, Ratt, Quiet Riot, Scorpions - I was part of the genre - I even had Vince Neil's haircut from their first album, Shout at the Devil.
I know, WTF was I thinking; then and now! Well, it was a spur of the moment type thing. I had fun, even though my ears are still ringing.
Maybe next time, maybe I will use ear plugs.
I must be getting old.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

About me - Things you didn't know, you didn't know.

A friend of mine tagged me. How exciting. So here are a few things about me that I suppose you absolutely NEEDED to know about me.

The rules:

1. Each player starts with eight random facts/habits about themselves.

2. People who are tagged need to write their own blog about their eight things and post these rules.

3.At the end of your blog, you need to choose eight people to get tagged and list their names.

4. Don’t forget to leave them a comment telling them they’re tagged, and to read your blog.
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
1. When I was 7, I was swinging on a clothes rack in J.C.Penney's and it fell on me. It fractured my wrist and gave me a black eye. My mother was more scared than angry. She just said, "I told you they weren't monkey bars."
2. I would like to have a pet opposum.
3. I live by a quote from The Bible, even though I am not overly religious. "Not that I speak in respect of want, Because I have learned in whatsoever state I am in, therewith, to be content." Phil 4:11
4. My favorite foods are Italian, Mexican and Sushi. I could eat those three foods everyday for the rest of my life and be completely happy.
5. I collect Living Dead Dolls, Pocket Dragons and Hello Kitty (oh yeah, and Homies).
6. I believe the penalty for a crime should be based on what the person got caught for. I also support the death penalty.
7. I have 11 tattoos and 4 piercings other than in my ears. If I counted my ears, I would have 12 piercings.
8. I wish I had the money to buy 180 acres in North Dakota - or some where like it.
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
And just for shits and giggles:
9. I love animals and would take in every stray I found if my husband would let me.
10. I was the President of the Forestry Club (what a geek I know), I was on the Dean's List, and I was recognized by my college as a female honor student in a non-traditional program (25% or less of the people working in Forestry are women).
Well, there you have it. A few things you didn't know, you didn't know.
I don't know who to tag...
Everyone I know has probably done it. So, if you want to, join in the fun. Or as the little cookie said to Alice, "Eat me."

But the Committee Says it's All Right

I was talking to a friend of mine the other day, which is something I do often enough to have some sort of disagreement... about one thing or another... usually about world issues.

Issues that no one else would think to talk about.

Things like, how our planet is dying or why people just don't care about anything anymore... or why it is that we won't fight for what we believe in. Instead we let "society" tell us what is right and what is wrong.

We let someone else decide for us what we can watch on television or in the movies, or what we can and can't read. We who believe in freedom of speech or freedom of choice, let someone else tell us our choice is WRONG. And we sit back and say, "Well, it's a sign of the times."

We reminisce about the way things were. Like when an "R" rating in a movie usually meant more than heavy petting, drug use, extreme violence or smoking a cigarette. An "R" rating meant that that particular movie had all of the above. Now, it will most likely have sexual content or extreme violence or both, but a "PG" movie is violence.

So we're saying that violence is okay, but sex is not. I would rather let my child, if I had one, watch a movie with sexual undertones (not SEX) than one with VIOLENCE. But then I would also sit with my child and EXPLAIN that what they are seeing is not real, but fantasy. And then EXPLAIN the difference between fantasy and reality.

We reminisce about how life used to be. How it used to be safe to go out at night with our friends and walk down to the local hangout, even though it was at least two miles away. We remember the fear we had of our parents when we broke curfew, so we didn't do it. Because not only were we afraid of them, we respected them. If only deep down inside and never openly admitted to our friends. Because we knew we all felt the same way. Most of us called to say we were going to be late, if only to stop our mothers from worrying to death about us. And then, we dealt with the wrath of our fathers even though we knew that we could be grounded for the rest of our lives. (At least that's what it felt like.)

And we reminisce about how we actually had to work for what we wanted because it would be a cold day in hell before our parents GAVE us what we wanted. Sure they might help out - maybe, buy us a fixer-upper, but we had to pay for our own gas and insurance - which meant we had to WORK. We had to give up our weekends or after school time to the local grocery or fast food joint. Our summers meant working to save up enough to buy a better car or to move out at the end of our senior year. Because we were taught to fend for ourselves, to rely on ourselves - because if we couldn't rely on ourselves, then who could we rely on?

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

We knew the difference between right and wrong.

We knew how to stand up for what we believed in.

We never let anyone order us around and we knew when not to take NO for an answer.

We are the people.

We should never let someone else make up our minds for us if it the WRONG decision for us.

We need to stand up for what we believe in.

Full of Things to Say

Maybe we should listen to the music. Some people are trying to get the word out, but our ears are still closed.

WTF is wrong with the world?

As long as I have resided here, I have seen a lot of changes.

In only ten years, I have watched countless numbers of trees be removed for development. Development of residences, business, so desperately needed CAR WASHES. Another Sonic here, another WalMart there. And why?

Well, I don't rightly have an answer. Maybe it's because we have nothing better to do with our time than to figure out how we can destroy our world today. Maybe it's because we really think we don't have the resources to rebuild an area that is already developed, so we decide to develop an area that was once a lush, green forested area and let the other developed area go to hell... become a slum village, or have those homes condemned and squatters move in. Have that particular area become a drug infested war zone with drive-bys or knifing over who's money paid for what (or in a murder case, didn't pay for anything). Good neighborhoods gone to crap because the city council refuses to do a damn thing about it... or they TRY and succeed only in moving the bad people, drug people, to a different part of the county so the city doesn't have to worry about it. "It's not our problem anymore. Let the county worry about it now."

Maybe it's because big corporations are actually greedy bastards who can think of only one way to make money. So they make their money, but if something goes wrong, i.e. the Alaskan Pipeline, they say, "We have to charge the American people to fix it because we don't want to spend the billions and trillions of dollars on something we knew was going to go bad to begin with."

What's wrong with the PEOPLE when they LET the government decide what's good for them and what's bad for them? Why not fight back. Say something, for crying out loud? It never ceases to amaze me when I hear people bitch on a daily basis about how bad the government is doing, yet they sit back and say, "Oh well. There's nothing I can do about it." When in fact, there IS something you can do about it. Maybe not on the grander scale that most people think, but in your own community, or ON your own.

I've been thinking a lot about this whole global warming thing.

THE FIRST AND FOREMOST WAY TO STOP GLOBAL WARMING:

PLANT A TREE.

Trees take in CO2, right? Well, if you think about it, when you cut down a tree, you take away the earth's natural ability to heal itself. Instead of, and this goes back to the first topic above, clearing out 100 acres of trees to build a strip mall and then only panting 20 trees for decoration, have someone go in and select trees to keep, some of the oldest trees say, and cut down the sick, dying or dead trees. And THEN plant new trees.

One of these days, when there are only a few trees left, someone is going to cut them down thinking, "Oh, it's okay. There are still more trees." And then someone else will see it and say, "You know, you just cut down the last few trees on earth." What then?

Stop and think about it the next time the tree in your front yard sheds too much and you decide to get rid of it. That tree probably does a whole lot more for you than you think. Is your house in the shade from this tree? Chances are, your electric bill is lower than your neighbor's, if they don't have a tree in their yard. Do you have a nice green lawn under the tree? Most likely it's because the leaves from the tree are actually supplying your yard nutrients (unless of course it's an Oak. I hear the acid from oak leaves is bad for lawns). But instead of cutting it down because there is more yard work for you to do, put a bench or a swing under it. If you have a tree in your backyard, have a picnic under it with your family or significant other. Try camping out under it one night with your kids.

It's more about the little things that the earth has to offer than anything else. When the lakes dry up, and the trees are all gone, what will we have left to enjoy?

Maybe Somebody Knows

A must see. Watch and listen carefully.
